I was invited twice. So I didn't attend twice. But I did turn up over an hour before the 2nd one was due to be held and told them they had no right to do this and that I did not recognise their authority, nor did I recognise them as Jehovah's Witnesses and I told them their behaviour was appauling and that they all ought to be ashamed of themselves.
Before this I also turned up to an elders meeting with letters detailing pretty much the same as above. There were probably about 16 or 17 men at this elders meeting and they were unwilling to come to the door. I sensed the one who opened the door was even trying to pretend it wasn't an elders meeting so they could all hide. But I made it clear that I knew what was going on and invited them to step outside. Only 3 did and they didn't linger.
Anyway they had no Christian authority so effectively they've done nothing to me in relation to anything scriptural. Except they have proved themselves to be a bunch of lying, bullying, apostates.

US & UK difference
by Olig inso i was wondering, is there a difference between the baseline attitudes of jw's in the us and the uk?
i hear tonnes and tonnes of experiences regarding elders chasing people up and hounding them.
and people having to devote their lives to fading out.

Hi Olig
I think it depends on your situation and how you handle it. I am in UK and I know ones who have left quietly and others who get hounded.

Getting disfellowshipped to marry and return
by confused ini was just wondering if there is any official rules on dealing with this.
a sister in the congregation is planning to divorce her husband who is also a witness so she can marry a different brother in the same hall!
yes this is a huge scandal!

I am aware of this happening. People don't seem that bothered by it anymore. Guess the shock of it has worn off and people think its acceptable now.
What I can't figure out is this. They know Jehovah disapproves of fornication, so they do it in order to divorce. If they had any concern about how Jehovah feels, they'd at least just get divorced and remarried. It would be better than fornicating first. Not much, I grant you but a bit.
But they are not bothered about God's standards. They are bothered about what others think and so long as no one is too shocked and no one asks questions...

Do You Have A Negative Outlook Because You Were Once A JW?
by minimus init could be argued that exjws have issues in life simply because they were jehovah’s witnesses at a point in their lives.
.
do you think you or we are fairly normal considering we were jehovah’s witnesses or do you think we have a lot of baggage because we are a bit messed up ( even if we don’t even know it)?.

I think I've had an insightful education and learnt many valuable lessons which I enjoy sharing with other like-minded people.

If you look at the pictures of Babylon the Great in the Revelation Grand Climax book, then compare them to Esther in the Imitate their Faith book p 153 you'll see she's got the same moth or butterfly earring and her clothes are the same colour as Babylon the Great (purple and scarlet - although they've pinked up the scarlet).
If you look at the picture of Esther on p 128/9 of that same book, ask yourself, "why is she looking at that wierd statute of two drooping swan necks and watching all those little birds? A couple of them are tits."
Now I'm not going to spell it out, but if you wanted to stick your hand up and give the most innocent sounding shocking answer at a mid-week meeting, this delightful picture might have been drawn just for you.

Are You Still “Technically “ A Jehovah’s Witness?
by minimus inif we haven’t associated with the congregation in years, could it be said we are not jws?
or must you be disfellowshipped or disassociated to officially say you really aren’t a witness?.

I have always been Christian and thought I was joining other genuine Christians. There were many kind-hearted, genuine Christians in the congregation I joined. What we didn't realise was that the wool was being pulled over our eyes.
The term 'Jehovah's Witness' does not fully describe a Christian because the term applies to the decendants of Jacob. But Jesus was a descendante of Jacob, he was Jewish. So, I feel it can be used in a figurative sense to describe a Christian and in that sense I am happy to be described as one. But I know people have to be directed to Jesus Christ, not the Law of Moses.
Although the door of fellowship has been closed on my by 'the club', because the GB is actually apostate to Jehovah Witnesses (it misuses the OT scriptures written by inspired Jehovah's Witnesses - eg Daniel, Ezekiel, Jeremiah), I do not identify the GB or WBTS or any appointed by them as Jehovah's Witnesses.
And I don't care how they choose to describe themselves because you can say the moon is made of cheese, your only problem is you have to prove it. Same with GB, they (and those in association with them) can say they are Jehovah's Witnesses but how on earth could they ever prove it? They can't, because they are lying and those blindly following them are deluded.

From my research, a common denominator in all WBTS false doctrine (ie that not soundly based on the Bible) is Theosophy/Theo Sufism. Sufism is a kind of Islam. The whirling dervishes are Sufists. They whirl and whirl until they get dizzy. This dizziness acts like an anaesthetic so they feel no pain.
Theo Sufism is also connected to Fabianism and the establishment of the Lucifer Trust (Lucis Trust). Leading Theo Sufist, Alice Ann Bailey set up the Lucis Trust, while another prominent Theo Sufist, Annie Besant was a speaker for the Fabians. Annie was sponsored for membership of the Fabians by George Bernard Shaw.
In addition to all this, 1914 is by used by WBTS to signal a new age. Amongst some who accept the patriachs but reject the Messiah, Jesus Christ, there is a belief that the Messiah is not a person but an age. The 1914 doctrine may reflect this concept of a Messianic Age.
Communism also rests on this idea of new ages as does the postivism of August Comte who perpetuated the search for a science of society through a 3-staged theory of progress which he derived from Saint-Simon (who believed in Utopia). Comte's idea was that mankind moved from a theological to a metaphysical to a positive era. Positivism had authoritarian implications. It relied on intellectual authority. The link between enlightenment and despotism in the 18th century was not accidental. Saint-Simon had consistently appealed to monarchial authority from his first petitions to Napoleon until his last appeal for a New Christianity to the leaders of the Holy Alliance.

But they play tricks with words using semantics. An organisation is something made up of organs. A body is an organisation, so they use concept of the body of Christ to insist on unity.
